The new year sparks new goals. Start planning for a successful garden now with a little preparation and forethought.
- Get help with planning by using the professional expertise of GreenWeaver’s landscape design team.
- Prune trees & shrubs while they are still dormant. An added bonus: its easy to see their silhouettes right now!
- Take pictures of your property in winter to help with the design process (with and without snow).
- Notice what plants look good right now so you can incorporate them into your property later.
- Flip through magazines, blogs, & Pinterest to start planning your dream garden.
- Sharpen your tools like shovels, trowels, & pruners.
- Make a list of tools and accessories you need next year. New gloves or a weed basket? How about a compost bin or raised bed?
- Collect materials to start cool season veggies indoors- peat pots, soil and trays, seeds, etc.
- Submit a soil test for lawns and gardens. Wait for a warm(er) day to get a good sample and submit through GreenWeaver or Penn State Extension. It will take a few weeks to get it back.
- Plan your vegetable garden, especially if starting from seed.
