Crew Leader Job Description
The purpose of this position is to efficiently lead a landscape crew in installing ecological landscapes that are designed by both GreenWeaver and by outside sources as well as other landscape services. Work involves both hand tools, power equipment, and heavy equipment and both hardscapes and softscapes.
Crew Leader Job Duties and Responsibilities
•Reflect GreenWeaver’s core values of Quality, People, and Environmental Stewardship in all aspects of work.
•Set an example through a positive attitude and a strong work ethic to motivate crew.
•Communicate with supervisor and provide clear instructions to crew. Ask questions about any task or topic that is unclear.
•Train new crew members in safety, proper landscape techniques, and how to properly operate and maintain all tools and equipment.
•Evaluate staff performance, coach and take disciplinary actions when performance problems occur for direct reports. Report staff performance issues to Supervisor.
•Review and understand job assignments, including scope of work, estimated hours, and equipment.
•Explain job requirements to crew and ensure proper equipment is loaded for the job.
•Work alongside crew and anticipate and prepare for the next steps in landscape projects to maintain high level of efficiency.
•Communicate any production issues, overruns, questions, or change orders to the Field Supervisor and proceed as directed.
•Document materials and hours for jobs and explain discrepancies from estimates.
•Clearly communicate with client their job status and other pertinent project information.
• Determine completion of project and get the crew safely back to the shop. Ensure customer satisfaction through high-quality work and clear communication.
•Maintain clean driving record and drive trucks and crew to job sites.
•Work some long days and in all weather conditions. Some weekend work is required.
• Keep all work areas including trucks, shop, and job sites neat for safety, efficiency, and appearance.
• Fill out incident reports on all accidents and immediately bring any concerns regarding quality, safety, or other workplace violations to their supervisor.
Compensation: Starting from $22.00 per hour and based on experience. Benefits include accrued paid time off, holiday pay, group health insurance, and professional development.
