Field Supervisor Job Description

GreenWeaver provides ecological landscape services with the goal of changing how landscaping is done in the Greater Philadelphia area. The purpose of this position is to manage day-to-day operations of Greenweaver’s Landscape Department in a positive, safe, and efficient manner.

Job Duties and Responsibilities
•Reflect GreenWeaver’s core values of Quality, People, and Environmental Stewardship in all aspects of work.
• Use positive leadership skills to build and train a high-performance team and supportive culture, directly managing Crew Leaders, and indirectly managing Crew Members in landscape practices including, soft-scape and hardscape installation, grading, and stormwater management. Manage a diverse workforce while promoting a welcoming, team environment.
• Establish and enforce operating procedures and work standards that ensure efficiency, consistency, and personnel safety.
• Review scope of work and requirements for jobs. Clarify any unclear specifications prior to project start to ensure the project meets client expectations, is understood by the landscape team, and is completed within budget.
• Schedule jobs and other work for crews and oversee daily dispatch to ensure efficiency and accuracy. Adjust schedule depending on crew or equipment availability, weather conditions and other priorities.
• Monitor projects and overcome issues to ensure that contracts are satisfied, schedules are maintained, and Greenweaver standards of quality are met, minimizing or eliminating budget overruns and call backs.
• Perform personnel-related activities, such as hiring workers, evaluating staff performance, coaching, and taking disciplinary actions when performance problems occur.
• Facilitate and ensure proper daily close-down, including securing equipment, shed and lot.


• Oversee training for Greenweaver landscape employees, including but not limited to:
o Employee Expectations
o Landscape Construction Practices
o Plant Identification
o Sustainable and Horticultural Standards
o IPM
o The safe and efficient use of gardening/landscaping tools and equipment


• Coordinate work with other departments.
• Prepare required records, such as time sheets, work activity, pesticide application forms, and incident or personnel reports.
• Manage fleet and conduct routine inspections of vehicles, equipment, and tools.
• Keep all work areas including trucks, shop, and job sites neat for safety, efficiency, and appearance.
• Inventory supplies of tools, equipment, or materials and ensure that sufficient supplies are available, and items are in usable condition.
• Direct or perform mixing or application of fertilizers, insecticides, herbicides, or fungicides.
•Communicate with clients and manage Change Orders in a timely manner, increasing client satisfaction and job profitability.
• Be a supportive team member and immediately bring any concerns regarding quality, safety, or other workplace violations to the supervisor.
