Landscape Designer Job Description
The purpose of this position is to provide ecologically sound landscape designs to clients and to generate landscape work for landscape installation team.
Landscape Designer Job Duties and Responsibilities
- Reflect GreenWeaver’s core values of Quality, People, and Environmental Stewardship in all aspects of work.
- Meet with potential clients and provide in-depth interviews to understand their preferences, goals, budgets, timelines, and to educate them on the benefits of ecological landscaping.
- Conduct comprehensive site assessments to understand existing conditions, soil types, drainage patterns, vegetation, grades, views, exposure and other considerations.
- Create proposals outlining design deliverables. Send proposal within 2 business days of initial client meeting.
- Work with Client throughout design process providing clear communication, a positive experience, and design expectations are met.
- Follow the GreenWeaver Design Process to ensure standardization of workflow.
- Translate client’s wishes into beautiful, functional, and financially realistic designs.
- Apply ecological best management practices to all designs including an appropriate use of plants, emphasizing natives, eliminating invasive plants, managing stormwater, protecting soils and planning for maintenance.
- Respond to client calls and emails within 24 hours.
- Keep accurate records of client communications and site assessment.
- Accurately estimate projects and provide timely proposals to clients.
- Provide job installation information for crew through preconstruction meetings and project notes, outlining details necessary for job installation and explaining any special circumstances.
- Oversee and manage the execution of landscape designs, collaborating with purchasing, operations, contractors, and other team members.
- Attend weekly design meetings and collaborate with other designers remaining open to and offering suggestions with the goal of improving final designs.
- Be a supportive team member and immediately bring any concerns regarding quality, safety, or other workplace concerns to supervisor.
