Steward Job Description
The purpose of this position is to supervise and execute daily, hands-on field work by performing garden maintenance for contracted gardening clients. This is a position in the Gardening Department that requires excellent leadership abilities, strong horticulture experience and outstanding communication skills.


Steward Job Duties and Responsibilities

  • Reflect GreenWeaver’s core values of Quality, People, and Environmental Stewardship in all aspects of work.
  • Prioritizes and delegates gardening work on each property to maximize property appeal and ecological integrity while executing gardening contracts per GreenWeaver standards and best horticultural practices.
  • Identifies problems, issues and opportunities for enhancement on properties independently researches solutions and communicates this information to the client and Gardening Coordinator.
  • Provides client with pricing for time/material jobs as detailed on the pricing sheet.
  • Gathers information necessary to provide a client with an estimate when the scope of work falls outside of the pricing sheet and informs the Gardening Coordinator.
  • Ensures that the gardening crew brings necessary tools and materials to complete all tasks for the day by reviewing the calendar, gardening binder, and previous visit notes.
  • Assists with training and on-boarding for GreenWeaver gardeners.
  • Has strong knowledge of IPM, fine gardening, and environmentally friendly garden practices.
  • Understands and safely mixes and applies pesticide applications.
  • Completes all necessary paperwork per visit including Gardening Visit Reports, Time Sheets and Pesticide Applicator Forms
  • Communicates with clients as delegated by Gardening Coordinator
  • Keeps all work areas including trucks, shop, and job sites neat for safety, efficiency, and appearance.
  • Remains positive and works well with others.
  • Works with landscape operations as needed.
  • Works some long days in adverse weather conditions.
  • Has the ability to repeatedly lift up to 50 lbs.

Compensation
Based on experience, starting from $22.00 per hour. Benefits include accrued paid time off, holiday pay, group health insurance, and professional development.
